Welcome to Business IT. Scotland is well known throughout the world for its enterprise and innovation and our courses prepare our learners with both the skills and knowledge for the workplace and further and higher education.
Staff in the Department:
Mr S Argo PT Business
Miss W Petty (Depute) Business
Mr P Brandt PT Computing
In the BGE learners are given the opportunity to enhance their ICT skills. These can be applied in Business where learners will look at innovation and entrepreneurs as well as how businesses market their goods. In Computing Science, the focus is on developing digital solutions in Web Design, Animation as well as basic Computer Programming. Further study also deals with aspects of business ethics and the impact that businesses have on their environment.
In S3 learners can select either Administration and IT, Business or Computing Science. This allows an in-depth look each of the separate subject areas and we work towards preparing the learners for the challenges that face them in National courses.
Throughout the BGE learners are encouraged to be enterprising and can experience the business curriculum through taking part in national competitions and challenges like Micro Tyco.
Across the faculty we offer a range of certificated courses in the Senior Phase in Administration and IT, Business Management and Computing Science. Each of these courses recognises the importance that Business and Computing have on the economy and combine both theoretical and real-life aspects to ensure that our pupils have the necessary knowledge and practical skills that will be of use in both the workplace and in further study of the subjects. Our learners are given the opportunity to study at N4, N5 or Higher level – whichever suits best! We have recently introduced Advanced Higher Computing Science to allow pupils further progress in Computing Science.
The use of technology to be innovative and enterprising underpins all we do to encourage our learners in the faculty to reach their potential.
