Administration & IT

At Lochgelly High School we offer N4, N5 and Higher Administration & IT. The key purpose of this course is to develop Administrative and IT skills and to enable you to contribute to the effective functioning of organisations. You will develop a range skills, including the ability to use the following IT applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and desktop publishing; and the ability to use technology, including the internet, for electronic communication and investigation.  You will also develop the skills, qualities and attributes to organise and support events.

This course is designed for those who are interested in administration and practical uses of IT and want to develop their administrative and IT skills further. On completion of the course, you will be able to utilise the acquired administration and IT-related knowledge, understanding and skills at home, in courses at college and university and in the world of work for local and multinational organisations.

Business Management

At Lochgelly High School we offer N4, N5 and Higher Business Management. In Business Management your will develop an enterprising attitude and appreciation of taking risks in a business context. Decision-making skills will also be developed by interpreting, analysing and evaluating a range of information to make responsible, ethical and effective business decisions. Areas that we will study are: Understanding Business, Management of Marketing and Operations and Management of People and Finance. 

Studying Business and Business Management will allow you to be better informed about business and able to make an effective contribution to society as consumers, employees, employers or self-employed people. The combination of knowledge of current business theory with practical aspects of learning will enable you to apply your skills and knowledge to real-life business situations. 

By developing many transferable skills, you will be prepared for the world of work or further study of business and other business-related disciplines. It extends and deepens your understanding of business and highlights a range of business-based career opportunities that are available within all business sectors.
